When I was very small I clearly remember how my parents used old glass jars to take their lunch to work. These jars were heavy and inconvenient, so when plastic alternatives appeared they seemed pretty cool. Not anymore… As it turned out, plastic is not only tremendously harmful to the environment, it can cause health issues. According to Earth Day Network
- more than 90% of plastic waste is not recycled, resulting in every piece of plastic ever produced to still exist;
- people around the world buy one million plastic bottles every minute;
- if we don’t stop the plastic pollution, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050.
Isn’t it reasonable to stop using plastic today? The good thing is that in many cases, you don’t need to buy new things as some alternatives to plastic products may be already found in your house. E.g. everybody has glass jars that can substitute plastic containers. Of course, they are not as easy to use as plastic ones, but dropping the latter will make the significant impact on the environment, so why not give it a try.
